Tesla Financing Credit Score Requirements (2026)
On this page
Tesla doesn't publish a minimum credit score for financing. Tenet does. Here's exactly what score you need, what rate you'll get at each tier, and what to do if you're on the borderline.
Minimum Credit Score to Finance a Tesla With Tenet
Tenet finances Teslas for borrowers with credit scores starting at 620. There is no hard cutoff -- applications below 620 are reviewed case by case -- but 620 is the practical floor for standard approval.
Current Tenet EV Loan Rates

|---|---|
| 800+ credit score | 4.99% APR |
| 760+ credit score | 5.19% APR |
| 720+ credit score | 5.94% APR |
| 680+ credit score | 6.49% APR |
| 620+ credit score | 7.74% APR |
Rates as of 2026. Actual rate depends on credit profile, loan term, and vehicle. Checking your rate has no credit impact.
What If Your Score Is Below 680?
A score between 620 and 679 doesn't disqualify you. It means a higher rate and potentially a lower maximum loan amount. A few things that help secure the best terms:
- Larger down payment. Reducing the amount you borrow vs the value of the vehicle strengthens the application at any credit tier, and can lower your rate.
- Shorter loan term. A 60-month term instead of 84 months means you pay down the loan faster and reduces the risk profile of the loan, which can reduce the rate.
- Co-borrower. Adding a co-borrower with a stronger score and income can improve your approval chances. Co-borrower's ideally live in the same household and/or are related.
What If Your Score Is Above 760?
Scores of 760 and above qualify for Tenet's best published rates – currently from 5.19% APR nationally, and from 4.99% APR for borrowers with 800+ credit. At this tier the rate difference between lenders is usually small. The main variable becomes loan term: an 84-month term will have a higher rate than a 48 month term but have a lower monthly payment.
Does Checking Your Rate Affect Your Credit Score?
No. Tenet uses a soft credit pull to generate your rate offer. This has no impact on your credit score. Only if you accept the offer and proceed to full application is a hard pull initiated -- and only with your explicit consent.
How Tesla's Own Financing Compares
Tesla offers first-party financing through Tesla Financing in most states. In states where Tesla does not offer direct financing – including Alaska, Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Carolina, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming – Tenet is a Tesla-preferred third-party financing partner. Regardless of state, comparing Tenet's rate takes two minutes and has no credit impact.
